Telecom Egypt, the first integrated operator of communications and information technology services in Egypt, signed a protocol to renew cooperation with the National Center for Computer and Network Emergency Preparedness (EG-CERT) in the field of cybersecurity, under the auspices of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. This comes within the activities of the Egypt Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition. CDIS-EGYPT Information Intelligence Systems, held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in the Fifth Settlement in Cairo, from May 19 to 21.
This protocol is a renewal of the protocol that was signed in late 2022, expanding its scope and increasing its budget from 20 million pounds to 35 million pounds, which reflects the commitment of both sides to enhancing cooperation in the fields of innovation and cybersecurity. The new protocol includes several main components, most notably the Cybersecurity Academy. Through which Egyptian competencies will be trained on the latest technologies and practices in the field of cybersecurity to raise the level of skills and readiness to face cyber challenges, and the WE INNOVATE hackathon, which is an essential part of the program and brings together experts and cybersecurity enthusiasts from all over the Middle East to cooperate in developing innovative solutions to current challenges. The Future and Cybersecurity Business Accelerator, which aims to support emerging companies in the field of cybersecurity and provide the appropriate environment for their growth and prosperity.
During the conference activities, Telecom Egypt launched the “WE INNOVATE” hackathon for the second year in a row, which brings together the best experts and cybersecurity enthusiasts from all over the Middle East to cooperate in creating innovative solutions to cyber challenges in the areas of securing emerging technologies, tools for weaponizing cybersecurity, and tools for weaponizing censorship. And management and compliance. This year’s edition will be launched under the slogan “Expanding Regionally – Going Regional,” providing the opportunity for the best winners to represent WE INNOVATE and Egypt in the Arab cybersecurity challenge competition scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates next October at the GITEX Global Conference, in addition to financial prizes for the winners of an estimated value. About 650 thousand Egyptian pounds, in addition to the technical opportunities it provides for development and innovation through communication with industry leaders and potential investors.
