Elon Musk Re-Files Lawsuit Against OpenAI Founders

Musk joined OpenAI in 2015 on the basis that it was a non-profit company, but Altman deceived him, according to him, and he eventually decided to ally with Microsoft.

The lawsuit indicated that “Altman assured Musk that the non-profit side makes it possible to ensure neutrality and focus on security and transparency for the benefit of everyone, not just shareholders, but it turned out that this talk did not follow through and that it was a huge fraud carried out by Altman.”

The lawsuit also said that “the result was that OpenAI, in which Altman and Microsoft had significant interests, was eventually valued at a whopping $100 billion.”

“As a result of their illegal actions, the defendants unfairly made billions of dollars in wealth, while Musk, who co-founded the for-profit startup, was deceived and the public,” it added.

In late 2022, OpenAI made waves with the launch of its ChatGPT program, which allows it to generate text based on simple requests in everyday language, before launching tools to generate images and videos based on written requests as well.

Microsoft supported OpenAI’s multibillion-dollar investments, and also supported the startup’s management when the board sought to remove Sam Altman last November, forcing the hiring of him and all employees who did not support his departure.

OpenAI’s board eventually reversed its decision and reinstated Altman, before replacing several board members.

Musk launched his artificial intelligence company, XAI, in 2023.
