The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the General Certificate of Secondary Education (Thanaweya Amma) top performers of 2024 and students interested in enrolling in Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and their parents on EUI Open Day.
The event has been organized at the university’s campus in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital.
The event highlighted the advanced academic programs offered by EUI, opportunities for full scholarships, and the state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, including laboratories and research centers, that enhance the educational experience and align with the standards of the world’s top universities.
In his address, the ICT Minister welcomed the parents and students, commending their determination and ambition to shape a successful future by pursuing their education at promising universities like EUI. He emphasized that such dedication is essential for achieving excellence in their future careers.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) established and supported EUI as part of its comprehensive strategy developed in 2018, focusing on building a digital society driven by ICTs to propel development, Talaat explained. He pointed out that the ministry’s vision is to nurture students’ self-learning capabilities and equip them with the skills and expertise required to compete effectively in the global job marketplace. This is achieved by providing them with comprehensive skills integrating knowledge, expertise, and soft skills.
The ICT Minister highlighted that the ICT sector has been the fastest-growing state sector for the past six years. He noted that this growth is attributed to the pivotal role of ICT as a cornerstone among all state sectors, with ICTs being essential for driving development and refining skills across various professions, thus creating a promising opportunity for a successful and dynamic professional future.
Egypt enjoys a large talent pool, Talaat underlined, explaining that numerous companies employ Egyptian talents to export IT services to clients worldwide, with many leading tech countries experiencing a growing demand for skilled professionals.
Furthermore, the ICT Minister praised the remarkable achievement of Olympic champion Ahmed Elgendy, a student at EUI who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He underscored the University’s unwavering commitment to encouraging students to develop their skills and abilities across various fields alongside their academic studies.
Talaat held an open discussion with GCSE top performers and their parents, addressing their inquiries about the essential skills and future developments in the ICT job market driven by technological advancements.
The ICT Minister referred to the Ministry’s initiatives that focus on building digital capacities across various age groups, aiming to expand the skill pool in all ICT fields. He explained that EUI collaborates with multinationals to provide scholarships for students.
It is worth noting that EUI is attracting GCSE top performers nationwide to cultivate, encourage, and support exceptional talents. It aims to inspire them to pursue their academic excellence by enrolling in the University to prepare them for studying future-oriented sciences, aligning with their goals and aspirations, which contribute to supporting the local and global job markets with highly skilled and competent graduates.
For her part, EUI President Reem Bahgat congratulated the students and their parents for their outstanding achievements and excellence, which mark the culmination of their hard work and perseverance. She wished them ongoing success and encouraged them to sustain their commitment throughout their academic and professional paths.
Moreover, Bahgat announced that EUI is offering them full scholarships to join one of its four faculties: Engineering, Computing and Information Sciences, Business Informatics, and Digital Arts and Design.
Backed by various banks and ICT companies, these scholarships are part of a presidential initiative designed to support exceptional students. She stressed that advancing education to meet the highest global standards has been a mainstay for the University since its inception.
The President of EUI also highlighted that education is the cornerstone for shaping the future and a fundamental pillar for comprehensive and sustainable community development. EUI is at the forefront of academic institutions, keeping pace with current and future demands, she highlighted, adding that it is one of the leading universities specializing in ICT, data sciences, and business technology in Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East.
In a similar vein, the top performers were given a detailed explanation of the university’s academic programs. They were joined by the Vice President for Academic Affairs Ahmed Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Amr Elmasry, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences Hoda Mokhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Business Informatics Samaa Taher, and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design Fatma Hamdy.
The students toured EUI campus, exploring its laboratories, research centers, and facilities. They said they were pleased to tour the campus and explore the advanced capabilities, aligning with their ambitions. They expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this academic institution which offers them the invaluable opportunity to study through full scholarships.
