The National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) has concluded the 2024 Assistive Technology Summer Internship Program. The closing ceremony was attended by professors from various national, civil, and private universities.
The program was conducted in collaboration with seven universities: Cairo University, Helwan University, New Cairo Technological University, Egypt University of Informatics (EUI), Benha University, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and Nile University.
Over the eight-week program, 82 senior-year students from engineering and computer science faculties participated. They submitted 23 proposals for graduation projects, which were reviewed by a jury of faculty members from Egyptian and partner universities.
Established in 2018, NAID serves as a hub for empowering people with disabilities, aiming to foster economic and social development in Egypt. The Academy’s vision is to become a regional leader in promoting innovation in assistive technology. Through capacity building and technical training, NAID supports PwDs in Egypt and beyond, as well as innovators developing ICT-based solutions.
