Kaspersky expands Kids Cyber Resilience Project and organises a cyber day for families in Cairo

by Ahmed Hassaan

The Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project focuses on raising awareness among children, parents, educators, and NGOs about online threats. It also stresses the importance of digital hygiene, practical ways to enhance online security, and enjoy technology. Through interactive workshops, online courses, and other activities, the program encourages responsible digital behavior, helping kids develop the resilience needed to navigate the internet safely. Launched in Singapore in March 2023, the initiative has successfully run in a number of other countries in APAC — the Philippines, Malaysia, India, and Vietnam — to date.

Kaspersky also introduced its Cyber Resilience Project for the first time to the Middle East, a region that is currently placing growing emphasis on digital transformation and cyber safety. As part of this initiative, a Family Cyberday was held in Cairo, Egypt, in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute, Knowledge City Branch (Egypt). The Family Cyberday event covered topics such as online safety, data protection, fostering a culture of digital security, privacy risks on social media, and tackling misinformation. Over 30 families participated in the event.

As part of the Project, the participants learned to recognize phishing scams, avoid malicious websites, secure their social media accounts, and practice safe gaming and content-sharing habits. Special modules of the program are dedicated to cyberbullying prevention and managing digital privacy.
Eng. Rania Elsayed Mohamedy, Department Head of Infrastructure and Cybersecurity at ITI, said:
“In an era marked by rapid technological advancement, ensuring digital safety has become paramount for individuals of all ages. As part of the continuous work from the Information Technology Institute, alongside our partner in cybersecurity, the leading company Kaspersky, we conducted a full-day training for parents and juniors on our premises at Knowledge City. Our joint Cyber Day aimed to spread cyber awareness to all sectors of the community.”

Evgeniya Russkikh, Head of Cybersecurity Education Kaspersky, comments: “Fostering a cybersafe environment for children and the youth is a complex task, requiring the engagement of numerous parties, including teachers, parents and NGO representatives. Kaspersky’s Kids Cyber Resilience aims to bring together these stakeholders with the ultimate goal of fostering a new generation of users who know how to keep themselves safe in the digital realm. With the expansion of the initiative to new regions we will be able to empower more young people with the knowledge and skills to be confident and resilient in their digital experiences.”

Kaspersky is constantly working to educate its users on the evolving cyberthreat landscape, speaking about complex digital topics in a simple way. Convinced that encouraging dialogue and launching educational programs are essential, Kaspersky has been running the Kaspersky Academy, an international educational venture established in 2010 with a mission to drive the best cybersecurity education to build a safer world. Through the Academy, the company promotes the worldwide knowledge of cybersecurity, supporting young talents in IT and contributing to the development of high-quality cybersecurity educational programs.
