Prime Minister: IMF approval of third review is a certificate of confidence in Egyptian government program

Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, chaired the government meeting at its headquarters in New Alamein City; to discuss a number of different files.

The Prime Minister began the meeting by pointing out that the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund met yesterday and approved the third review within the framework of the Egyptian economic reform program, stressing that this approval is an important step towards helping achieve our vision for the path of economic reform, and is also a certificate of confidence in the Egyptian government program, including its reforms and financial and economic targets, and he pointed out that the economic indicators are currently on a positive track.

In this context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly explained that the Egyptian government was able to achieve good indicators for budget performance during the past fiscal year, and we started the current fiscal year with ambitious indicators despite economic pressures and unfavorable external conditions, stressing the government’s commitment to continuous work to reduce the rate and burden of debt to the gross domestic product.

The Prime Minister referred to the meetings held by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, during the past days; To follow up on a number of priority files in the energy sector, most notably the implementation of His Excellency’s directives to find decisive solutions to the issue of reducing electricity loads, while stopping them during the summer to relieve citizens.

He explained that the government places this file on its priority agenda, and there is continuous coordination between the ministries and relevant authorities in this regard.

The Prime Minister stressed the government’s continuation, with all its agencies and relevant authorities, to work on following up on the availability of goods in the markets, controlling prices, and the necessity of continuing to work on stabilizing the markets and achieving price reductions, which contributes to reducing inflation rates.

During the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly touched on the inspection tour he conducted, early this week, on a number of projects in the New Alamein City; to follow up on the progress of work and stand on the implementation rates, stressing the importance of continuing to be keen on conducting field visits by ministers, governors and all officials; to follow up on the progress of work on the ground, stressing that these visits contribute to developing a real vision of possible solutions to any challenges facing work files in each ministry and governorate.
