Concluding his visit to Paris, France, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has held a meeting with the Senior Executive Vice-President, Strategy, Research and Technology at Thales Philippe Keryer, in the presence of the Ambassador of Egypt to France Alaa Youssef.
The meeting delved into Thales’ plans to expand its footprint in Egypt’s ICT sector, capitalizing on the country’s young digital talents. It also explored avenues for collaboration in specialized training, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Thales Marko Erman, the Vice-President International Relations at Thales Jean-Noel Bonnieu, and Managing Director and CEO of Thales in Egypt Sherif Barakat.
Furthermore, the ICT Minister met with executives and officials from major French companies that are members of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), in the presence of the Ambassador of Egypt to France.
Organized by MEDEF in collaboration with the French-Egyptian Business Forum, the meeting was moderated by the chairman of the French-Egyptian Business Forum and the CEO of Capgemini Aiman Ezzat.
During the meeting, the ICT Minister underscored Egypt’s rapid advancements within the ICT sector. He emphasized the state’s commitment to driving digital transformation and solidifying Egypt’s position as a global hub for tech innovation and digital service exports.
Furthermore, Talaat outlined ongoing efforts to create an attractive investment environment by offering incentives and facilitations for companies, alongside investing in digital talent development to meet market demands. He also showcased promising investment opportunities within the sector, particularly in offshoring, ICT services, engineering research and development (R&D), and electronics design and manufacturing.
The two meetings were joined by Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technological Talents Hoda Baraka, the Director of the Central Department of International Relations Samah Aziz, and Sector Director of ICT Markets Development at Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Mahmoud Sofrata.
It is worth noting that the ICT Minister visited Paris, France, to participate, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the AI Action Summit, held on February 10-11.
During the summit, Talaat took part in a workshop titled “African Engagement in Global AI,” organized by the Council of Europe (COE). He was also engaged in the Ministerial Roundtable of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) members and interested countries, organized on the sidelines of the summit.
In addition, Talaat met with officials from French companies to discuss fostering cooperation and exploring investment opportunities within the ICT sector.
